You can shoot cows, cats, dogs, squirrels, etc. Most people will kill each other. If you can survive the first few months of panic there will be plenty of food.
8:38. Good point. The TV series Jericho went into this in a very realistic way. What was clear is that the game animals would quickly be “cleaned out.” That was the expresssion they used on the show. So the hunting rifle and the case(s) of ammo won’t do you much good. You might shoot a couple bullets, maybe bag a deer and then that’s it. There’s basically nothing left to shoot.
